Actually… It’s Not Okay

I keep saying 'it's okay' to things that, deep down, don’t feel okay. Sound familiar?

If yes, let's delve into next steps. If not, bear with me.

Number 1: We are not responsible for someone else's feelings or emotions.

Number 2: We need to sit with discomfort so that it starts getting real comfy (basically, we're trying to normalize being okay with disappointment).

Number 3: Let's drop the "it's" in "it's okay" (say okay instead of its okay - go on, try it out loud). I mean unless you are truly unbothered by the actions or behaviors of others - then in fact it's okay.

Number 4: Let them. Mel Robbins speaks on this theory of letting people be themselves. I've found this to be one of the best ways to deal with things you cannot control. When all is said and done, you have to let people be who they are. Real control comes from accepting that you don’t always have it.

If none of this makes sense, you can (and should) reply to this email so we can chat. Or, just stay tuned for more of my tangled web of life advice next week.

P.S. All this to say I do not have a new blog post ready for you (but it's coming).

P.P.S. Practice choosing you. We need to teach others how to treat us.

Cheers.

Amor Fati. The love of one's fate. One day as I was aimlessly scrolling TikTok I stumbled across a video about Amor Fati and I just knew I had to share this with you.
